Viðbrögð utan úr heimi vegna uppákomu Siðmenntar fyrir þingmenn á Hótel Borg

Boð Siðmenntar til þingmanna um að mæta á Hótel Borg og spá í gott siðferði í þágu þjóðar í stað þess að fara í kirkju fyrir þingsetningu hefur vakið athygli út fyrir landsteinana. Hefur félagið fengið skilaboð frá ýmsum löndum. Hér birtast nokkur þeirra. Ég birti ekki með nöfn þeirra sem sendu skilaboðin en þeim er engu að síður haldið til haga:

in our Upper House (the House of Lords its called, believe it or not)
and they have voting powers.  They are sometimes able to block reformist
legislation.

We are trapped in the past.  Help............

Polish media. I contacted them and some are interested.

Do you have any English language press release about the event? And if
not, could you let me know, how many of those 20 people who appeared
were MPs? It seems that just four of them. Am I right? And if this is
so, do you have any knowledge, why so few. Are all the others religious,
or perhaps there are other reasons.

I would very much appreciate any information and comments on this event!

Congratulations on the success of this event.  I envy you, for here in
the USA we have seen Barack Obama
1) expand Bush's atrocious "faith-based initiative",
2) renege on his commitment to ensure that no church accepting
government aid could discriminate in hiring based on religious belief,
3) cut back federal spending on embryonic stem cell research,
4) endorse the blatantly unconstitutional "National Day of Prayer",
urging Americans to pray,
5) inject God talk into almost all of his speeches a la G. W. Bush, and
6) hold a conference on ethics in the White House with invitations
extended almost exclusively to fundamentalist clergy, with no
representation whatever from the freethought community.  All Obama has
provided to date to the freethought community have been platitudes.  And
that is all we can expect over the next four years.

As for the Congress and our state and local governments, the less said
the better.

Af þessum skilaboðum er að sjá að alveg er ástæðulaust fyrir þingmenn sem ekki vilja fara í guðsþjónustu fyrir þingsetningu að fela sig einhversstaðar í djúpun kjallara þinghússins með öll ljós slökkt og dregið fyrir glugga eins og talað er um að til hafi verið ætlast fram að þessu.

Frábær viðbrögð.

Sorglegt að heyra frá USA um að Obama sé í áframhaldandi samkrulli við trúfélögin. Hann minntist á trúlausa í viðtökuræðu sinni og því hélt ég að hann yrði e.t.v. víðsýnni en Bush í þessum málum.
